In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled in September.

Hopefully, you have noticed a focus on the front entrance this spring, with cleaning of the stone wall, refurbishing entrance lights, new landscaping and work on the fountain. A new pump, liner and lights were installed and all of the old shrubs were removed and new plantings added. The changes make the beautiful stone and fountain a focal point as you enter Pembroke. Our thanks to Beverly Johnston for her work in making these improvements.

Our new lighting vendor has completed his work and all lights are again functioning. If you notice any outages, please let Beverly know (beverly.johnston1@outlook.com).

One suggestion for enhanced lighting and security, is to keep outdoor house lights on after dark. Some residents have put these lights on timers for their convenience. Low level ground lighting is also permissible and is especially helpful in illuminating sidewalks. If used, be sure to place them so that they do not interfere with mowers.

There has been some concern expressed about the difficulty in seeing our house numbers. Repainting the current numbers in black seems to improve their visibility. A few owners have added decorative number signs in their ground beds, which is allowed as long as they don’t interfere with mowing.

The preventative maintenance program has stalled, due to the loss of our painter. A new vendor is being interviewed and we hope to have trim painting restarted in the near future. Power washing of stucco and the majority of wood repair/replacement is complete.

We are grateful to those of you who are weeding and trimming in addition to the contracted services by Landfall COA. Our contract includes spot weed treatment (3x/year) and your use of roundup occasionally will help keep the weeds down and prevent spreading.

Landfall COA has installed a fountain/aerator in pond #2, which should reduce the algae problem we had in that pond last summer. It is lighted and adds to the pond aesthetics at night.

Gutter cleaning will be done this month.

If you notice any problems with the irrigation system in your area, please notify Allison or Tina at the COA office, 910-256-7604.
